Most examples seem to be from the Flathead tribe. All images are in sepia tone. Cond : Paper wrapper is brown with buckskin coloured lettering. Cover (front and back) is a full page photo of a gathering where ceremonial dress was called for. Clean, tight in binding. Title page is heavily annotated by previous owner. Several (internal) photos have marginalia. Excellent reference copy that is becoming scarce. QUote (p. 07) : " Among some Grass Dance groups the leaders took care of the big society drums. In use they were suspended from four decorated sticks. At other times they were hung at the rear of their keepers' lodges and treated with reverence, like other medicine objects. " Size: 8vo.
