Hardcover. Condizione: Fine. first trade edition. A fine, fresh, apparently unread copy in equally fine matching slipcase. Small folio in illustrated paper covered boards. Unpaginated. Illustrated with lithographs printed by Derriere L'Etoile Studios and silkscreens by Pinwheel. First trade edition after the 1988 deluxe signed limited edition of 250 copies in steel covers. Text of the short story by Stephen King and illustrations by conceptual artist and collagist Barbara Kruger. The story is about an elderly man who is nearing death, who takes his grandson up a hill behind his house, where he gives the boy his pocket watch. He tells the boy about the "nature of time" and that, as one grows older, time moves faster and faster, slipping away in great chucks unless you hold tightly on to it. Time is the pretty pony, one with a wicked heart. King included the story in the 1993 collection of short stories "Nightmares and Deamscapes".

Condizione: Near Fine. Deluxe Edition. Folio (20.25 x 13.5 inches). One of 250 copies, in addition to 30 authors' copies, SIGNED by both Kruger and King to colophon. For the sixth volume in the Whitney's collaborative Artists and Writers Series, Barbara Kruger illustrates a short story from Stephen King; a grandfatherly parable about the relativity of time. In addition to 8 bold silkscreen prints, executed in her trademark textual style, Kruger supplies a series of color lithographs depicting fallen horses and their riders, with a sequence of fragmented captions that all-together read: "Time ain't got nothing to do with how fast you can count." Contents: 8 silkscreens and 10 lithographs, each interleaved with original tissue guards. Bound in leather-backed aluminum boards, with an (expired) digital clock embedded into the front panel; this copy lacks the accompanying instructions sheet. Some scuffing to aluminum boards; near fine. Signed.
