Hardcover. Condizione: New. Dust Jacket Included. 1st Edition. 266 pages. Hardcover with a dust jacket. Old powder cans and kegs are colorful, historical and highly collectible, catering to a variety of interests. The Bacyk collection is probably the most extensive assemblage of powder cans, kegs and related memorabilia in existence. The quantity, rarity and scope make this collection extraordinary. There has been considerable activity over the years in this area, by various collectors, and some other notable collections have been amassed. Many firearms, sporting art and tin collectors also have powder can and keg collections of varying sizes. To date, there have been minimal references for these collectors to determine rarity or value of cans and kegs. In this book, we have focused on the major American manufacturers: du Pont, Laflin & Rand, American Powder, King and Hazard, plus their related companies. Included in the book is some historical data from other sources which will give the reader some of the more interesting background of these companies as well as a rarity and price guide (as of the publication date of the book). We found that we could not cover all the collection in one volume, and hope to complete another on the smaller American companies. West Coast mills and foreign manufacturers at a later date. An outstanding reference. Language: eng Language: eng.…

Hardcover. Condizione: New. Condizione sovraccoperta: New. 1st Edition. 404 page. Hardcover with a dust jacket. Large volume. Very well illustrated. In this volume we cover the single shot rifles that were made in the greatest quantity in England - more than all other single shots combined. These are the small caliber rifles known as Rook Rifles. A previous book by colin Greenwoood has been published, which is excellent, but we are going to delve into much more detail with a lot more examples photographed. As nothing has been done previously on their larger brothers the Miniature Rifles, and there is so much overlap, we are including them also. When we started this project we weren't aware of how historically important these little rifles were. In this book we cover the early percussion and air rifle types and then get into the fascinating story of the needle fires. Why these were so important to the British trade as well as future cartridge design is covered in detail. We then cover the various developments in more traditional cartridge rifles through the center hammer break open designs. Also included is a large section devoted to additional information and corrections of material covered in previous books in this series as well as a few pages devoted to simple photography techniques. As this story is so large we have had to make two volumes. Volume 8 (to be published) will conclude the story. That book covers the hammerless rifles, ammunition and reloading and shooting the rook rifle today. We have also included a few recipes for those that would like to prepare a rook dinner. Hardcover. Condizione: New. Condizione sovraccoperta: New. 1st Edition. 388 pages. Hardcover with a dust jacket. Large volume. Stunning book. Hundreds of photographs with many large, sharp color shots. Volume 3 completes the series. The arms covered in this volume are the pistols and the parlor (Zimmerstutzen) rifles. The Germans almost single-handedly created free pistols and the vast array of types makes an interesting collection. The Zimmerstutzens, which died out because of the laws during the occupation after World War II, were the predecessors to today's air rifle shooting. There is an endless variety of types and variations. The accessories, such as sights and loading tools as well as medals, steins and related items comprise the balance of this book. An excellent and fascinating reference. Language: eng Language: eng Language: eng Language: eng Language: eng.…
