Hard Back. Condizione: Fine. Condizione sovraccoperta: Fine. Steele-Perkins, Chris - Photography (illustratore). 127 Pages. Original French Edition published by Marval, Paris in 2000. This the Westzone First Printing of the 2001 English Edition. Black hard boards with white titles on spine. Printed on pristine-white, thick coated stock paper it is a hardback book with a pictorial dust jacket that was removed from shrink wrap and posted on line. Never opened. This is a documentary book of black and white photographs most in full page. All of the photographs are reproduced in miniature and appended at the end with captions. This book is introduced by the French essayist and traveller André Velter and includes essays and verses by the Afghani poet Sayd Bahodine Majrouh, who was assassinated in Pakistan in 1988. Illustrated by 76 duotone photographs. Chris Steele-Perkins visited Afghanistan numerous times over a five year period. Throughout those years, the country was devastated by a succession of wars, as it still is today. Steele-Perkins is hopeful and as a result, the photographs are unforgettable rather than sensationalistic. He seeks to capture the continuing cycles of everyday life despite the fact of war, resulting in a collection of images of wonder and violence, terror and joy. Steele-Perkins is one of the world's foremost photojournalists.
