Nella lettera, in cui è indicato il conte Fabio Asquini d'Udine quale primo coltivatore del Picolit, l'autore riferisce di trovarsi a Paese, non lontano da Feltre, dove il suo ospite Conte Girolamo Manfrin si era appunto dedicato alla coltivazione del Picolit. Lo Zucchini descrive quindi in dettaglio le tecniche di coltivazione e vinificazione praticate dal Manfrin ed invita il Martelli a tentare la coltivazione del vitigno anche in Toscana.
