Particularly American sources consider the North Korean political system and its leadership as defunct. Actually, little is known about the country, which is labelled as hermit kingdom following largely irrational policies and threatening of world peace with WMD.Based on my experience as a Chief Technical Advisor of UNDP and a consultant for a bilateral agency in North Korea and with the help of documents and academic studies, I question some of the generally accepted assumptions on the country and the mainstream opinion divulgated by the Western mass media 124 pp. Englisch.

Die Notwendigkeit, von aussen beschlossene Massnahmen nach zu vollziehen nimmt zu. Die demokratischen Prozesse werden durch den Druck von internationalen Erfordernissen unterwandert. Die Einschränkung von Souveränität trifft alteingesessene Rechte der Bürger. Dies schwächt die Basis des Staatsgefüges.Die Schweiz hat sich seit dem zweiten Weltkrieg als robuster Wirtschaftsraum erwiesen. Sie gehört zu den Gewinnern der Globalisierung. Dieser Erfolg hat seinen innenpolitischen Preis: Die Anzahl der Personen und Familien, die von dieser Entwicklung nicht profitiert haben, nimmt zu. Der Neoliberalismus hat zu wachsenden Wohlstandsunterschieden geführt. Das vorliegende Papier fordert eine Verkleinerung des sozialen Grabens, eine Erhöhung der aussenpolitischen Kompetenz der Entscheidungsträger sowie eine aktive Rolle der Zivilgesellschaft.
