The book has mild wear to the spine ends, and slight sunning to the spine. Overall, this is a solid, sharp, Very Good+ copy in a Very Good dust jacket, which has bumps with short creased tears to the spine ends and corners, sunning to the spine with faint soiling at the tail, a few small smudges to the covers, slight wear to the edges with a short tear to the tail of the back, and a crease to the upper corner of the rear flap. Housed in a Near Very Good slipcase, which has light bumps to the corners, rubbing with smudging across the panels, a few areas of soiling, and sunning to the edges.

Meredith Langstaff; also a small newspaper clipping laid down, regarding English translations of the book, probably also by him; early ownership signature on rear endpaper of the legendary New York book-hoarder DeWitt Miller (1857-1911), whose library was dispersed at auction in the 1940s.

Trace of soil to the wrapper but essentially a fine copy. With the engraved bookplate of Charles B, Foote, and a Blackwells bookseller ticket. One of 53 numbered copies from an edition of 63 on Japanese paper, and signed by David Nutt. This is copy No. 9. Housed in a green leather solander case, gilt spine titles. The leather is soiled, spine faded to brown, but still presents good appearance. Tne preliminary page states that the poem was translated in June, 1887, and printed in November, 1887. .
