No Binding. Condizione: Very Good. Angus, Helen M. - The Toymaker Cards - 32 Toy-Making Cards - OUP c.1940 - Colour Plates Full ABE Listing ANGUS, Helen M. The Toymaker Cards: A Set of Thirty-Two Cards with Instructions for Making Toys. Oxford: Oxford University Press, n.d. [c. 1940]. 4to. A complete set of thirty-two instructional cards by British artist and designer Helen M. Angus, intended to provide practical guidance for making a variety of toys. The set comprises 31 colour-illustrated plates, together with a further card entitled "These notes may help you", containing general instructions and advice. The cards combine attractive period illustration with practical toy-making directions and provide an appealing example of mid-twentieth-century British educational and craft publishing. Issued by Oxford University Press, without a printed date but circa 1938. The cards are housed in the original paper sleeve with blue lettering. Collation: 32 cards in total: 31 colour plates plus 1 instructional notes card. Format: 4to. Publisher: Oxford University Press Date: n.d. [c. 1940] Condition Good overall, with the cards themselves generally Very Good. Complete set of 32 cards, comprising 31 colour-illustrated toy-making cards together with the introductory card headed These Notes May Help You, housed in the original printed paper sleeve. The cards are generally clean and well preserved, with bright colour illustrations and only light age-related handling and toning. The original sleeve is considerably more worn, with overall age-toning, marks, creasing, rubbing, fraying and small tears and losses around the edges and corners, as clearly shown in the photographs. Despite this wear, the sleeve remains substantially intact and the blue printed title, author, contents, original 3/- net price and Oxford University Press imprint remain clearly legible. An attractive and scarce survival, particularly desirable with the original sleeve retained.
