In very good red and black pictorial cloth boards with castle on hill and trees to front and spine and gilt titles. The boards are firm, straight and quite clean; spine ends bumped. Lightly tanned free end papers; prize plate to front paste down. Dark tint to top cut edge; the fore and tail edges are tanned and lightly foxed. The text block is in very good condition and excellent for age, with unmarked, firm and flat pages. With b/w frontispiece and attractive head pieces and tail pieces. Without dedications etc. No jacket. Rare.
