It is an interesting grouping of quite different artists, including the soft, atmospheric portraits of Tr cka; the crisp, sensual still lifes of Weston; and the stark nudes of Newton. The book is unified by the theme of photographic form, notably in portraiture and the human figure, as well as Weston's classic still lifes. Although technically a catalog for a 1998 German exhibition curiously titled 'The Artificial of the Real', the large-format, clothbound book is beautifully reproduced and reasonably priced, especially given the high production values. Exhibition catalogs often present artists in the freshest and most insightful light, and this book is no exception. 118:88 mm. Bislang unbekannter Originalabzug aus der ikonischen Reihe von Portraits, die Anton Josef Trcka 1914 von Gustav Klimt im blauen Malerkittel schuf. Der Kontakt zwischen den beiden dürfte über Josef Maria Eder zustandegekommen sein, den Leiter der k. k. Lehr- und Versuchsanstalt für Photographie und Reproduktionsverfahren, an der Trcka von 1911 bis 1915 studierte. - Verso ist sehr schwach lesbar in rotem Farbstift von nicht identifizierter Hand notiert: "Arch. Prof. Hoffmann", gefolgt von einer vierstelligen Nummer ("1129"?) und einer Formatangabe "8¼ x 11¼". - Sehr wohlerhalten; zwei Einrisse fachmännisch restauriert.…
