Exemplar com danos na lombada e nas capas com alguma perda de papel e folhas finais por abrir. Obra rara com evocações poéticas da vida, da fauna e da flora de Angola, que ganham mais valor por serem acompanhadas pelos desenhos de Neves e Sousa. De acordo com o autor «Para os valorizar [aos contos, a que chama Bilhetes Postais], quis eu ilustrá-los, emoldurando a prosa nos excelentes desenhos de Neves e Sousa [.] por demasiado rica, a moldura matou, absorveu, por completo, a prosa.» O autor formou-se em direito pela Universidade de Coimbra, em 1912. Instalou-se em Luanda, em 1914, onde exerceu a profissão de advogado até falecer em 1955. Fundou o Jornal de Angola em 1916 e ficou célebre pela forma como defendia as suas causas em tribunal, tornando-se uma figura característica de Luanda, na primeira metade do século XX.
