Inhalt: Der aus Ungarn stammende Arthur Nikisch (1855-1922) studierte am Konservatorium in Wien Komposition, Klavier und Violine und war zunächst Geiger in verschiedenen Orchestern, bevor er ins Dirigentenfach wechselte. Nach Zwischenstationen in Leipzig, Boston und Budapest wurde er 1895 sowohl zum Gewandhauskapellmeister in Leipzig als auch zum Chefdirigenten der Berliner Philharmoniker berufen. Nikisch, der in den letzten 20 Jahren seines Lebens begeistert gefeiert wurde, gilt bis heute als einer der bedeutendsten Dirigenten überhaupt.
