Paperback. Condizione: New. Print on Demand. This book, a collaborative project by Willis A. Slater, Arthur R. Lord, and Roy R. Zipprodt, investigates the shear tests of reinforced concrete beams. As part of a larger project related to the creation of concrete ships during World War I, the authors conducted numerous experiments on I-shaped concrete beams to establish a foundation for designing concrete ships. Their findings, including many technical schematics and diagrams, are collected and analyzed here. Their work remains an important contribution to the field, providing a systematic study of the complex stress patterns and failure mechanisms of reinforced concrete beams under shear loading and offering valuable insights into the interplay between shear stress and diagonal compression, diagonal tension, and horizontal shear. The book's findings formed the basis for the design criteria used in concrete ship construction and continue to inform the design of reinforced concrete structures today. This book is a reproduction of an important historical work, digitally reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology to preserve the original format. In rare cases, an imperfection in the original, such as a blemish or missing page, may be replicated in the book. print-on-demand item.…
