Die Monographie "I"m proud to be Irish" beschäftigt sich deshalb mit der heutigen irischen Diaspora in den USA. Das Buch ist ein gründlich recherchierter Beitrag zur Ethnizitäts- und Diasporaforschung, zwei wichtigen Untersuchungsgebieten der Ethnologie. Die Ergebnisse über die irische Diaspora in den USA beruhen auf Feldforschungen in Irland und in den USA, insbesondere New York und Boston.
