Dazu wurden mittels einer qualitativen Untersuchung Mitarbeiterinnen/Mitarbeiter in Medizinprodukteunternehmen in Österreich und Deutschland befragt. Die Ergebnisse dieser Studie sind, dass bereits in der Vorbereitungsphase von Verhandlungen unterschiedliche Herangehensweisen beobachtet werden konnten. Selbst während der Verhandlungsphase spielen einzelne kulturelle Unterschiede in der Kommunikation eine Rolle. Kommt es zum Vertragsabschluss, können ebenfalls unterschiedliche Einflussfaktoren für die erfolgreiche Umsetzung relevant sein. Das Wissen um die andere Kultur wird als notwendig erachtet, um bei länderübergreifenden Vertragsverhandlungen interkulturell kompetent agieren zu können.
