Auf der Ebene der Hochschulabschlüsse ist bereits seit einigen Jahren ein ausgeglichenes Ge-schlechterverhä…ltnis festzustellen. Von teilweise niedrigen Ausgangswerten zu Beginn der 1990er Jahre ist mit zeitlicher Verzögerung bis zur Ebene der Hochschulprofessuren ein Anstieg des Frauenanteils auszumachen. Dieser beträgt im Jahr 2004 13,6%. Es zeigt sich allerdings auch eine anhaltende (nach Wissenschaftsbereichen) horizontale und (nach Hierarchiestufen) vertikale Segregation. In 2004 liegt die Spannweite der Frauenanteile an Universitätsprofessuren bei Werten von über 20 % (Geisteswissenschaften) bis unter 5 % (in einigen Fachgebieten der Ingenieurwissenschaften). Darüber hinaus ist die bereits dargestellte geringere Vertretung von Frauen in höheren Positionen in allen Fächern festzuhalten. Vor dieser Ausgangslage sind die Vertretung von Wissenschaftlerinnen in Förderprogrammen und Funktionen der DFG sowie ihre Förderchancen zu untersuchen.
