Soft cover. Condizione: Good. Green cardboard covers with dark green cloth spine. Titles in black. Small octavo. [vi] 385pp, (4) with ten maps. Nine folding topographical maps and one on title page, detailing the route and terrain of the Maine portion of the Appalachian Trail. Although the binding is very tight the cover shows wear and possible exposure to the elements as there is a light tide mark to the very edges of the text block. (Text and maps unaffected). This guide was published shortly after the completion of the Appalachian Trail in August 1937 and served as an early official guide for hiking the Maine section.

Staple Wraps. Condizione: Very Good. The collection of hiking accounts by George H. Witherle, renamed thus and mimeographed by the Maine ATC in 1950 this remains a very uncommon publication. Original typed titles on tanned wrappers stapled twice on the side with 43 pages mimeographed 1 side. Page ghost and original (likely) owners name to upper FC, rear clean, light edge wear. A nice example of an exceedingly scarce early AMC/MATC item.
