Seit der Erfindung dieses Mythos im Allgemeinen und des Spiegels im Besonderen uben Wasseroberflachen, vor allem, wenn sie von Baumen umgeben sind, eine unwiderstehliche Anziehungskraft aus. Huttes neue Bilder sind in gewissem Sinne Weiterentwicklungen seiner Urwald-Aufnahmen. Beim Blick durch sein Objektiv entdeckte er eines Tages das aufrecht stehende Spiegelbild einer menschlichen Gestalt auf der dunkelgrunen Oberflache eines Gewassers. Die Plattenkamera, mit der Hutte arbeitet, gibt die Welt auf dem Kopf stehend wieder - und zeigte ihm das Spiegel bild jetzt in nochmaliger Umkehrung, also 'richtig' herum. Diese Entdeckung faszinierte ihn so, dass er den Spie gelungen eine eigene, seine jungste Serie widmete. Ausgehend von einem an sich einfachen optisch-phy sikalischen Gesetz gelangte er zu Bildern, die die Wahrnehmung nachhaltig irritieren und unseren Sinnen scheinbar spielerisch Ratsel aufgeben. Die Wasseroberflachen, die wir sehen, sind unleugbar real - Hutte bearbeitet seine Photographien nicht digital -, und doch hinterlassen herabgefallene Blatter oder aufgebrochenes Eis Spuren von Irrationalitat in den Bildern. Sie wirken seltsam fremd, wie im Traum gesehen und der greifbaren Wirklichkeit entruckt.
