Denn zwischen den Polen reiner 'Naturstücke' - zu denen seine nebelverhangenen Berggipfel oder Bicke in ausgedehnte Ebenen gehören - und beklemmender, buchstäblich auswegloser Straßenbilder bewegt sich Hütte immer wieder in den unentschiedenen Grauzonen des Weder-Noch. Seine Motive sind Industriegebiete am Stadtrand, Firmengelände 'im Grünen', toskanische Kulturlandschaften, durch die Betonpfeiler eines Neubaus gesehen.
