Paperback. Condizione: New. Print on Demand. This book chronicles the genealogy and family lineages of some 300 families from Geneva, Switzerland, known through the cityâs history. Many were influential in the Reformation and are linked to Calvin or other leading figures. From the 15th century, these families took an active role in Genevan politics, the arts, and the military. While this volume focuses on 1530-1660, it also includes earlier and later generations when necessary. The author, a noted historian, traces the diverse origins of these families to other parts of Europe as well as to the city of Geneva itself, providing insights into migrational patterns and the cosmopolitan nature of the city. By presenting detailed accounts of these families, as well as summary accounts of others, this book offers a unique perspective on the social and political development of Geneva during a transformative period in its history. This book is a reproduction of an important historical work, digitally reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology to preserve the original format. In rare cases, an imperfection in the original, such as a blemish or missing page, may be replicated in the book. print-on-demand item. …
