English text. - Although the three prominent modernist artists Piet Mondrian (1872 1944), Barnett Newman (1905 1970), and Dan Flavin (1933 1996) each belong to a different generation, all of them have devoted their creativity to abstract art in groundbreaking ways. Under various intellectual and social auspices they relied upon ascetics in their unheard-of radical dealings with art. Using pure color, concrete form, and new materials, they expanded the dimensions of art into the universal. This volume appears in conjunction with a large, special exhibition at the Kunstmuseum Basel, and features each of the three artists in chronological order, so that the sequencing gives rise to enlightening nexuses. Condition : as new copy. ISBN 9783775736855. Keywords : ART, Mondrian, Piet.

Ausstellung in Zusammenarbeit mit der Sammlung Goetz im Kunstmuseum Basel, 09.09.2012-03.02.2013. - A new artistic movement, which came to be known as Arte Povera, was formed in the sixties and promoted by artists such as Giovanni Anselmo, Alighiero Boetti, Jannis Kounellis, Mario Merz, Pino Pascali, and Michelangelo Pistoletto. Their use of poor materials, such as soil, glass, wood, and wax, is characteristic and to this day forms a critical contrast to our increasingly technological environment. In stylistic anarchy, paintings, objects, installations, and performances aspired to find a path back to natural processes and organic laws. The Goetz Collection has one of the most comprehensive collections of Arte Povera; it is presented in this publication and probed for its relevance for today s youngest generation of artists. Condition : as new copy. ISBN 9783775733564. Keywords : ART, Arte Povera.

Z : 204 pp., 65 ills. hardcover 24.70 x 30.80 cm - Willem de Kooning (1904-1997) is regarded as a leading exponent of Abstract Expressionism and celebrated in the U.S. as one of the most significant figures in twentieth-century painting. Yet in Europe, the artist has yet to be fully recognized as the important figure he was. That applies in particular to his work of the sixties and seventies, his years of retreat from urban life to live and work on Long Island. This part of his oeuvre bears the imprint of a fundamental experience of landscape, and it is here that he developed a style of figuration (which de Kooning never really abandoned) characterized by a new sense of color and energetic gesture. This period of vigorous, pioneering creativity in the art of Willem de Kooning is explicitly illuminated for the first time in this book. Featuring a concentrated selection of painting in large formats, it shows how his works - although recognizable as landscapes - grew abstract under the influence of his intense experience of nature while his brushwork literally liberated itself from all bonds.
