An account of the history of Nepal, including the Gurkha Conquest of 1768, the role of the East India Company, especially in the Nepal war of 1814-16 and of Nepal's two wars with Tibet, 1788-92 and 1854-56. Bhairava Dat Sanwal (b.1917) studied history at Allahabad and London, was called to the bar, joined the Indian Civil Service in 1941 and later worked as a magistrate, city administrator and Commissioner.
