Very good Souvenir book in lightly marbled brown heavy paper covers; title to front; it has a binding tied with brown cord. Internally near fine and free of inscriptions; copiously illustrated with tipped-in photographs of personnel associated with the formation and management of the bank including Neville Chamberlain who first conceived the idea of the bank and was its first chairman and the then General Manager J P Hilton. In addition there are may photographs of the bank and features of the building as well as of some of its various branches; the only blemish is that the frontispiece photograph of the General Manager has been stuck on the flyleaf with four dabs of paste which have seeped through to the verso; 83pp. A very attractive copy associated with this was the first Municipal Savings Bank in Britain. A scarce item.

Oblong format. 8ins x 11ins, title page, 18pp plates each faced by short text notes. Verso of final plate has a sketch plan of the section of the building that was completed and of that which was "now under construction" and an appeal for funds. As the first section of the Cathedral opened in 1924, 1924
