Die vollständige deutsche Übersetzung seines Kommentars von Rabbi S. Bamberger. Eine bessere Hilfe zum Verständnis jüdischer Auslegungen der hebräischen Bibel ist schlechthin nicht denkbar. Was Raschi im 11.Jahrhundert schrieb, muss einfach heute noch des Hebräischen mächtige Leser zutiefst bewegen. Bambergers deutsche Übersetzung vermittelt unmittelbar und ungeschminkt, was etwa der deutschstämmige amerikanische Rabbi Plaut seinen andersgläubigen Mitbürgern feinfühlig nahebringen wollte. Wer etwa den ganzen von Lazarus Goldschmidt prachtvoll übersetzten und kommentierten babylonischen Talmud.gekauft hat, vermisst zwar aufgelistete Hinweise auf Textstellen, die sich auf gesuchte Bibelstellen beziehen, aber weiß gar nicht, was ihm dadurch entgeht, dass diesem verdienstvollen Werk die Raschikommentare fehlen. Im eingedeutschten "Kommentar zum Pentateuch" steht auf jeder Seite am Rande, von welchem Bibelvers im Text die Rede ist, und wo immer es Rasxhi für nötig hielt, auf den Talmud zu verweisen, steht die Abkürzung des entsprechenden Traktats und die betreffende Abschnittsnumerierung in Klammern im Text, so dass mir dadurch der Talmud, dessen völlständige Lektüre vom gewöhnlichen Sterblichen kaum zu bewältigen ist, dadurch erst so recht wertvoll wurde.
