She studies at Bryn Mawr College, Harvard University and the Sorbonne. During World War II she served as a journalist in the U.S. Army. After the war she lived abroad for several years, first in Paris and then in Ascona, Switzerland, studying and writing. On her return to New York she worked as a research associate at the Costume Institute of the Metropolitan Museum of Art; later she became an English teacher. She has published poetry, literary criticism and a book for children, a botanical fantasy about trees. She lives in Durham, North Carolina, with here husband, an artist and emeritus professor of psychology. Signed by Author.
