Embedding climate resilient development principles in planning, urban design, and architecture means ensuring that transformation of the built environment helps achieve carbon neutrality, effective adaptation, and well-being for people and nature. Planners, urban designers, and architects are called to bridge the domains of research and practice and evolve their agency and capacity, developing methods and tools consistent across spatial scales to ensure the convergence of outcomes towards targets. Shaping change necessitates an innovative action-driven framework with multi-scale analysis of urban climate factors and co-mapping, co-design, and co-evaluation with city stakeholders and communities. This Element provides analysis on how urban climate factors, system efficiency, form and layout, building envelope and surface materials, and green/blue infrastructure affect key metrics and indicators related to complementary aspects like greenhouse gas emissions, impacts of extreme weather events, spatial and environmental justice, and human comfort. This title is also available as open access on Cambridge Core.

Neuware - Patristic Literature in Arabic Translations explores the Arabic translations of the Greek and Syriac Church Fathers, focusing on those produced in the Palestinian monasteries and at Sinai in the 8th-10th centuries and in Antioch during Byzantine rule (969-1084). These Arabic translations preserve patristic texts lost in the original languages. They offer crucial information about the diffusion and influence of patristic heritage among Middle Eastern Christians from the 8th century to the present. A systematic examination of Arabic patristic translations sheds light on the development of Muslim and Jewish theological thought. Contributors are Aaron Michael Butts, Joe Glynias, Habib Ibrahim, Jonas Karlsson, Sergey Kim, Joshua Mugler, Tamara Pataridze, Alexandre Roberts, Barbara Roggema, Alexander Treiger.

Aggiungi al carrelloBuch. Condizione: Neu. Neuware - From the eighth century onwards, Christians living under Islam have produced numerous apologetic and polemical works, aimed at proving the continuing validity of Christianity. Among these is the Legend of Sergius Baa, ArA, which survives in two Syriac and two Arabic versions, and appears here in edition and translation. Being a counterhistory of Islam, it reshapes early Muslim traditions about a monk recognizing Mua, ammad as the final Prophet by turning this monk into Muhammada (TM)s tutor and co-author of the Qura (TM)an. In response to Muslim triumphalist propaganda, it portrays Islama (TM)s political power as predestined but finite and unrelated to its religious message. This feature sets the legend apart from similar Christian accounts of the origin of Islam, East and West, which are reviewed in this study as well.

Aggiungi al carrelloBuch. Condizione: Neu. Neuware - Christian-Muslim Relations, a Bibliographical History 1 (CMR1) is the first part of a general history of relations between the faiths from the seventh century to the present. It covers the period from 600 to 1500, when encounters took place through the extended Mediterranean basin and are recorded in Syriac, Arabic, Greek, Latin and other languages. It comprises introductory essays on the treatment of Christians in the Qur'an, Qur'an commentaries, biographies of the Prophet, Hadith and Sunni law, and of Muslims in canon law, and the main body of more than two hundred detailed entries on all the works recorded, whether surviving or lost. These entries provide biographical details of the authors where known, descriptions and assessments of the works themselves, and complete accounts of manuscripts, editions, translations and studies. The result of collaboration between leading scholars, CMR1 is intended as a basic tool for research in Christian-Muslim relations.

Orientalia Christiana, 2022. 25pp --- The Munajat Musa or 'the Intimate Conversations of God with Moses on Mount Sinai' is a Moses apokryphon, probably originally written in Arabic, that describes how God gave Moses a series of moral injunctions and rituals and how Moses questioned God about His being and His power. The exchange between the two also features cosmogonic and soteriological themes and culminates in God's promise of a fuller and final revelation in the future. In the Christian version God announces the Divine incarnation, while in the case of the Islamic Munajat Musa, God gives a preview of the advent of Muhammad. Judging from the vast amount of surviving manuscripts from all over the Islamicate world (including translations into Aljamiado, Swahili, Hausa, Persian and Malay), these versions must have been very popular. Eastern Christians also had versions in Syriac, Ethiopic and Armenian, while Ethiopian Jews reworked it into a Jewish text. In this paper I introduce the various versions, list their manuscripts, and analyze and compare some of the narrative strategies through which they appropriate Moses and the revelation on Sinai as known the Hebrew Bible. I also a.
