Including frontispieces and engraved title pages. Uniform contemporary dark morroco with gilt titles and gilt decorations. All edges gilt. Yellow end papers. Very good condition. Binding rubbed and bumped. Age darkened. Edges and end papers age darkened. Ex Libris sticker on front paste down of both volumes. Stamp of a previous owner on both title pages and on rear free end paper of volume one. Some foxing. Some tissue guards with a colour tinge. Otherwise a clean attractive copy in sturdy attractive bindings. The missing Plate in Volume 1 is 'Berwick Lighthouse from the Pier' (opposite page 28).

1837. (4to) Poor. Volume 2 only of 3. 3 / 4 leather. Marbled endpapers, all edges gilt, engraved title page. All plates in this volume are by Bartlett (and all present). This is a rather poor copy with many faults; including the covers are worn, the front hinge is separated, pages 13 / 14 and 15 / 16 are partly torn away, one plate is loose, and most of the plates are dampstained. Contemporary half morroco over marbled boards. Marbled end papers and edges. Gilt titles and decorations on spine. Good condition. Binding rubbed and bumped. Edges age darkened. Rear free end paper of Vol.1 and front free end paper of Vol.2 missing. Some tissue guards missing. Names of previous owners neatly inscribed in ink. Internally with some browning, foxing and large visible damp stains on most pages, incl. Plates. (see images). Illustrations: The number of Plates in the book is the same as stated under 'Directions for the Binder', however, there are two deviations from the list. The Plate 'The Lake, from opposite Diodati' (opposite page 14) is missing. One Plate belonging to Volume 2 is inserted opposite page 52 in Volume 1. Total count is as follows: 2 engraved title pages, 105 Plates (of 106) plus folding Map of Switzerland.

Mild rubbing to the boards. Some finger soiling, with light scattered browning. All engravings have their tissue guard.
