The dust jacket is slightly shelf rubbed and edge worn, but remains whole and intact. Likewise for the boards, which are strong and sturdy. Internally, Battiss's inscription is on the front end page, and a previous retailer's sticker is under the front board. The end pages are tanned and lightly foxed, but this does not extend into the rest of the book, and the rest of the pages within are crisp, clean and complete. First plate signed by Battiss in pencil. 43pp. and 22 plates side-stitched. Staples not rusted. Light water staining to outer edge of Plates 11 and onwards tending towards the bottom outer corner. Plates 18 and 19 have bottom outer corners torn but images unaffected. Plate no. 21 has some abraded loss at the bottom outer corner impinging marginally on the image. Plate 22 small chip missing at corner but image unaffected. The front wrap has a light water mark along the outer edge sl. affecting the front cover as well. The spine of the thick plastic protected dw is missing and the top edge of the dw is lightly rubbed with what appears to be a 2cm closed tear to the top edge of the dw at the back.
