Strohmayer. 1844… promovierte er in Freiburg, wo er sich 1845 auch habilitierte und Prosektor des Anatomischen Instituts und Assistent der chirurgischen und gynäkologischen Klinik wurde. Nach Ausbruch der Revolution in Baden 1848 wurde er vom Kriegsministerium aufgefordert, in die Armee einzutreten, in der er bis zum Generalarzt I. Klasse aufrückte. Er machte die Feldzüge 1848/49, 1866 und 1870/71 mit und bildete als erster 1866 eine Sanitätskompanie aus, mit der er 1870 Hervorragendes erreichte. Später organisierte er vorbildlich das Sanitätswesen des XIV. Armeekorps (Baden). 1893 erhielt er vom preußischen König den Rang eines Generalmajors. B. verfaßte über 100 wissenschaftliche Arbeiten. Sein Hauptarbeitsgebiet war die Kriegschirurgie, aber auch pathologische, anatomische, experimentelle und mikroskopische Werke stammen von ihm." (Deutsche Biographie).
