The bottom part of the letter, cut away for the signature. Side with signature reads ' yet heard from the Bp. of Petebro on that point. I have to write hastily for our 3.45 post. | Believe me dear Lady Huntly yours very sincerely obliged | [signed] Edward Bradley'. Reverse reads ' of the Dining room and Study - & some of the bedrooms - and also paint the whole of the outside of the house. Paperers also come in for various rooms. My children and governess will (I think) be able to get rooms at a neighbourig Farm house [.]'.

Hardcover. Condizione: Very Good. Very good copy, of what seems to be a combination of the McClean edition of 1855, and the Hotten edition of 1899. First titlepage and frontis are clearly from the 1855 edition, ( toned and foxed ), and second titlepage clearly states John Camden Hotten, 1859. All plates called for are present, but one is bound before the second title page. The binding appears to be a re-bind, incorporating the originall gilt stamped, pebbled blue cover. Occassional light foxing throughout. What makes this copy interesting, is the bookplate which states " Loan Collection of Rodman Wanamaker " See photos.

First edition; 8vo (22 x 15 cm); 24 hand-coloured plates including frontispiece and illustrated title, internally clean; later calf-backed cloth boards, and endpapers, spine blind tooled with gilt morocco lettering piece, publisher's original gilt pictorial cloth and spine laid on paper and bound in rear, all edges gilt; 83, [2]pp. A highly amusing account of photography as a hobby in the middle of the nineteenth-century by a renowned comedic artist and writer of the day. Edward Bradley (1827-1889) used the pen name Cuthbert Bede for his works including frequent contributions to Punch and other illustrated magazines. The illustrations are by his own hand and depict photographic processes and terms as visual puns.
