Paperback. Condizione: New. Print on Demand. This book tells the extraordinary story of the mutiny on the Bounty, a British ship commissioned in 1787 to bring breadfruit trees from Tahiti to the West Indies. The author uses a wealth of primary sources, including the diary of James Morrison, one of the Bounty's petty officers, to meticulously recount the events that led up to the mutiny, the subsequent voyages of the ship's captain, William Bligh, and the ultimate fate of the mutineers. The book delves into the complex interplay of human nature, power dynamics, and the harsh realities of life at sea. It explores the themes of rebellion, loyalty, and the struggle for survival against the backdrop of the vast and unforgiving Pacific Ocean. The author also examines the lives of the mutineers after they settled on Pitcairn Island, and their descendants, who ultimately were forced to relocate to Norfolk Island. This book offers a fascinating and detailed look at one of the most famous mutinies in history, providing a glimpse into the lives of the individuals involved and their enduring legacy.
