Illustrated throughout, with several head pieces, tail pieces and eight plates. Illustrations are by the British artist Thomas Heath Robinson. Robinson's line drawings featured in many notable publications such as 'Cassell's Family Magazine', 'The Idler' and 'The Strand'. Acquired from a sale of the publisher J.M Dent's reference library, with this work being a 'File Copy'. With 'File' stamp to the recto of front endpaper. Joseph Malaby Dent was a British book publisher best known for the Everyman's library series. In the original cloth binding. Externally, generally smart. Light bumping to the extremities and to the head and tail of spine. Several light marks to the front and rear boards. 'File' stamp to the recto of front endpaper. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are generally bright. Some discolouration and a few light spots to the foredge, affecting occasional page edge. Light scattered spots to the pastedowns, otherwise generally clean throughout.
