hardcover. Condizione: fine. 1st printing. Hardcover, 248 pages, DJ in mylar sleeve. At the same time that he charged Meriwether Lewis and Wiliam Clark to explore the great Northwest, President Thomas Jefferson commissioned William Dunbar and George Hunter to take a parallel journey through the southern unmapped regions of the Louisiana Purchase. Their daily accounts now appear together, enhanced by a wealth of useful notes. They include descriptions of flora and fauna, geology, weather, landscapes and native peoples and European settlers, as well as tropical and navigational records that showed the first accurate English maps of the region and its waterways to be produced.

Efforts are being made to address the former through various mitigation and adaptation activities, but these may have consequences for biodiversity which are not identified or acknowledged. This book reviews how mitigation and adaptation measures in eight key areas: agriculture, forestry, energy, built environment, river and coastal flood management, health, tourism and leisure and conservation, identifying how they may impact positively or negatively on biodiversity. It also recognises the interactions which can occur between them and which may be neutral, synergistic or involve trade-offs. It shown how, by including biodiversity in mitigation and adaptation, co-benefits can be achieved and thus identifies cost-effective approaches to tackling climate change and biodiversity loss. This book will be of interest to researches in climate change adaptation and mitigation, biodiversity and conservation, as well as policymakers involved in formulating adaptation and mitigation strategies and stakeholders engaged in their implementation.

Wraps. Condizione: Good. Wraps, approximately 8 ½ by 11 inches. 60 pp., including covers. Started in 1992, Chickfactor was a professional looking zine devoted to indie pop, especially British indie music that was often overlooked in the US. Even so, the editors were often ahead of the curve when it came to the coverage of American acts as well. Edited by Gail O'Hara and Pam Berry. O'Hara has edited magazines, worked as a photographer, owned a record label and made films. Pam Berry is a musician, perhaps best known for her work with Black Tambourine. A later issue, where Pam has left the zine, and a somewhat forlorn O'Hara interviews her. Along with that, there is an interview with Cat Power, Lois and Carrie Sleater-Kinney, etc. GOOD+ condition. Small tear and creasing at the head of the spine. Upper corner curled. Minor soiling and toning.
