David Seymour [1911-1956] known as 'Chim', b…ecame a photographer when the upheaval in Europe dashed his dreams of studying science at the Sorbonne. He helped to redefine photojournalism with his humanistic coverage of world events. Some of his most powerful images are of refugee children displaced mainly by war. He worked in Europe from 1933-1956, his time cut tragically short by sniper fire in the Suez war. Photos reveal his humanistic ideals along with and sense of history. A founder member of Magnum Photos with Robert Capa, Cartier-Bresson and George Rodger. Contains essays by Cartier-Bresson, Horace Sutton, family members and friends and by Chim himself.
