Soft cover. Condizione: Good. 1st Edition. Volume 2. Bumping to the rear bottom corner, light shelf rubbing, minor crease to rear cover. '[The author], in an overt, life-long act of political and artistic irony, takes the wet-dream inducing icons of America's Industrial-Military golden age and turns them on their head, using their inherent Social Realist propaganda stylings to spread the ideology of the extreme deep Left. Perhaps the most vibrant collage maestro since Max Ernst and single-handedly responsible for an entire generation's graphic style.' Illustrated. 96 pages. 8.5 x 11 inches. Size: 4to - over 9¾ - 12" tall. Book.

One Sheet. (21.5 x 28 cm.) Promotional Newsletter. Black, typewriter-style, photo-mechanically printed type on Halloween-Orange colored paper. Top corners with record label logo and contact information center with star border. Dead Kennedys logo bottom right. Thick, black border separates text from reproduced, now iconic image of the front cover of the "Frankenchrist" album. One center fold with short, closed tear to the right of fold. Some creasing to upper left and bottom right. Original owner's note in ballpoint pen on verso. Very Good, an unlikely survivor. Co-founded by punk musicians, Jello Biafra (Eric Boucher) and East Bay Ray (Raymond Pepperell) in 1979, the independent record label, Alternative Tentacles, was both a platform for Biafra's band, The Dead Kennedys, and a pyre on which to set the establishment on fire. Soon after producing their own single, "California Über Alles", Alternative Tentacles showcased other bands on the label including D.O.A. and The Butthole Surfers. "Let Them Eat Jellybeans" (1981) pressed on the Alternative Tentacles label is widely considered the first punk and hardcore compilation album and features the debut single from hardcore punk Godfathers, "The Bad Brains". This newsletter enthusiastically promotes Klaus Flouride, D.O.A. (playing a gig with Motorhead!) and the False Prophets. Naturally, The Dead Kennedys new album at the time, "Frankenchrist", is the main attraction, with a tour schedule that begins in a place that the prescient Biafra must have sensed need a shot of Punk: Charlottesville, Virginia. Logo artwork by punk rock, collage artist, Winston Smith.

Unbound. Condizione: Fine. Octavo. One page, written on the verso of a Ballot for the Executive Committee of the Cuyahoga County Republican Organization for Governor and Lieutenant Governor. Undated but the election ballot on which it is written indicates 1982 or slightly thereafter. Fine. A letter of thanks from Jello Biafra, lead singer of the Dead Kennedys to a friend for the cassette the tapes: "I think I like Satan's Cheerleaders the best, but I'm surprised at how different the two sounded.", comments on his financial situation: "You're right, I'm pretty short on cash right now. Being a greenhorn independent is hard work & little pay but it's better than being owned & used." He mentions that he's never gotten around to making stickers, but "I'm sending you a nifty selection of flyers & posters for now. I'm sorry about folding them but mailing tubes are hard to come by out here." He concludes with a postscript about a mutual friend: ". now sporting a beat-up urban cowboy hat as well as a budding beer belly! He has also started to act more like a human being lately.".

Prima edizione
Complete run of an important San Francisco punk magazine. Issues 1-12/13 plus "October 1980 Special Free Edition" about a show at The Western Front. All issues in large tabloid format (11.5" x 17.5"), the third being slightly smaller dimensions. Very Good+ overall, with most issues having a horizontal fold in the middle (some more distinct than others), toning, light wear and occasional edge-chipping. Foxing to wraps of third issue. Notes in ink on rear wrap of #7. Very rare as a run. Dubbing itself "The Magazine That's Not for Everyone, " Damage was a calendar of events for San Francisco with interviews, reviews, and features, showcasing the tail end of punk's first wave and its splitting into post-punk, new wave, no wave, and hardcore scenes. This would prove very eventful as the city was a hotbed of creativity during this period with a number of acts that were sonically ahead of everywhere else, even New York and London. Highlights include a collage by Flipper's Will Shatter, a list of "Items" by Jello Biafra and an article on his campaign for SF mayor, photos of punk fashion at the Society for Mandatory Modern Dress Show, updates on performance art in the city, an article on the Tokyo punk scene, interviews with Crime, X, The Dead Boys, Flipper, The Mo-dettes, Circle Jerks, DNA, Gang of Four, Flipper, The Undertones, Public Image Limited, Bruce Conner (in two parts), the Dils, Black Flag, The Cramps, Magazine, the Go-Gos, Lydia Lunch, Adam and the Ants, Stiff Little Fingers, Madness, The Specials, Tuxedomoon, the dB's, The Bags, and the Bush Tetras.
