Hardcover. Condizione: Fair. Verschmutzung / Wasserschaden; Leichte Kratzer / Abnutzungen / Druckstellen. Die schmalspurige Albtalbahn verband ab 1897 Karlsruhe mit Ettlingen und erreichte bald Herrenalb und bis 1901 über Ittersbach auch Pforzheim. In den fünfziger Jahren des vergangenen Jahrhunderts wurde ihr Zustand so desolat…, dass ein Neuanfang notwendig wurde. Dank des Mutes der damaligen Entscheidungsträger wurde sie aber nicht stillgelegt, sondern durch die 1957 gegründete Albtal-Verkehrs-Gesellschaft (AVG) auf Normalspur umgebaut und mit dem Karlsruher Straßenbahnnetz verbunden. 1979 erreichte die AVG Neureut, ein Meilenstein, da hier erstmals Straßenbahnen auf einer Güterzugstrecke der DB fuhren. Danach entwickelte das Führungsteam der AVG, allen voran Dr. Dieter Ludwig, zusammen mit der Industrie einen Zweisystemtriebwagen, der in Karlsruhe auf Straßenbahngleisen und in der Region auf den Gleisen der Deutschen Bahn fahren kann. Das Straßenbahnnetz wurde mit dem Netz der DB an einigen Stellen verbunden und damit begann ein beispielloser Aufstieg des Schienenpersonennahverkehrs in der Region Karlsruhe und aus den 45 km der Albtalbahn ist unter der AVG ein Nahverkehrsnetz von etwa 600 km geworden.
