Maroon textured cloth. Newly rebacked with paper spine label - a good strong copy containing two scarce books. End-paper book label of collector Alan John Jarvis. Signature of A.J. Lane on title-page. Laid in is an ink drawing of six fishing lures. This appears to be the missing plate from "The Diary of A.J. Lane 1843" - "Caterpillars and Grubs" which is a blank page in the facsimile produced by the Medlar Press - the signature matches that in the Medlar manuscript, and the drawings of hooks are identical. It seems that A.J. Lane used the drawing as a book-mark in the 1850s and that it has laid there ever since. Two volumes, both first editions (1854) bound together. Recased in contemporary cloth with a new cloth spine & paper title-label. . …
