This book is a collection of political essays written in the early 17th century by Traiano Boccalini, an Italian satirist and political commentator. The essays take the form of dispatches from Mount Parnassus, the home of the muses in Greek mythology, and offer a satirical take on the political landscape of Europe at the time. Boccalini's essays are full of wit and wisdom, and provide a valuable insight into the political and social thought of his time. He offers trenchant criticism of the political machinations of the day, and advocates for a more just and equitable society. His work is a valuable contribution to the history of political thought, and offers a fascinating glimpse into the intellectual climate of early modern Europe. This book is a reproduction of an important historical work, digitally reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology to preserve the original format. In rare cases, an imperfection in the original, such as a blemish or missing page, may be replicated in the book. print-on-demand item.

We take it that " in Questa Decima Impressione Da Infiniti Errori Diligente Espurgata" means tenth impression with corrections, (but do not understand Italian.) Leather bound with rubbing to asll edges, heavy wear through to card at corners. Cross-banded spine, ornately decorated in gilt to sections, two title plates reading 'Raggvag Di Parnas' & 'To. II.' Paper to inner front board loose at top, ink inscription in Italian dated 1712 to flyleaf. Damp stain to bottop corners as far as page 25. A thin strip 31 by 5mm of some black material stuck to rear of title page behind publishers date printed unevenly MDCLIXI , strip has caused staining around date letters and we do not know why it is there; maybe date was originally amended by publisher, but this is only a guess. Page edges decorated with red spotting. One or two marks to page-edges & text, but overall nice and clean. Binding feels sound.
