It presents an overview of current research directions and fields of interest. It is divided into three sections, namely 1) assistive and rehabilitation devices; 2) surgical robotics; and 3) educational and service robotics. Most contributions are strongly anchored on collaborations between technical and medical actors, engineers, surgeons and clinicians. Biomedical robotics and the rapidly growing service automation fields have clearly overtaken the 'classical' industrial robotics and automatic control centered activity familiar to the older generation of roboticists.

Et pourtant, avec le management public, il s'agissait déjà, depuis la thématique du PPBS (Planning Programming Budgeting System) - la RCB en français (Rationalisation des Choix Budgétaires) d'acter la prise en compte des catégories managériales dans le fonctionnement des administrations publiques en remplacement de la tradition administrative' déclassée sur la base de l'argument péjoratif de la bureaucratie.Qu'il s'agisse du 'normal' ou du 'new', le management public poursuit un objectif d'efficacité. Il marque l'entrée des catégories d'une régulation organisationnelle dans les administrations publiques, régulation définie comme 'un processus par lequel les actions anti- organisationnelles sont contrées par des forces antagonistes assurant le maintien du système ou de l'organisation'. Ces forces antagonistes actent l'existence des tensions qui opèrent entre la dimension institutionnelle de l'administration (sa vocation à remplir des missions indiscutables et permanentes de service public) et une dimension managériale conduisant à questionner le fonctionnement des services publics au nom des enjeux de flexibilité et des conditions de travail.Cette discussion est marquée par l'introduction de logiques de compétitivité dans les services administratifs du fait de systèmes d'évaluation et d'incitation applicables aux administrations publiques comme à leurs fonctionnaires. L'autonomie alors accordée aux services publics tend à faire passer le rôle managérial des agents publics devant les objectifs politiques du fonctionnement des services administratifs par référence à une stratégie qui doit alors être formulée explicitement.
