Fordun's work is considered one of the most important historical sources for early Scottish history, although its accuracy has been questioned by modern historians.Walter Bower later expanded and updated the 'Scotichronicon', continuing the narrative until the reign of King James I.ESTC Citation No. T96013Providing an impressive amount of information on early Scottish history. In half calf bindings, with cloth covered boards. Rubbing to joints, board perimeters and back strip heads and tails. Hinges of volume I and rear hinge of volume II strained, but firmly held. Internally, firmly bound. Significant damp staining throughout, alongside spotting and discolouration to pages. Significant tears from page 159-313 of volume II, with losses to the text.
