Riccardo Brayda Genova 1846- Torino 1911 Ricc…ardo Brayda fu uomo dalle molte attività: ingegnere, docente universitario, uomo politico, progettista, restauratore, scrittore. Iniziò gli studi a Savona, presso i Padri Scolopi, proseguendo a Genova, al Real Collegio di Marina, per conseguire nel 1872 il Diploma di licenza in Matematiche Pure alla Real Scuola di applicazione per allievi Ingegneri di Torino e, nel 1874, la Laurea in Ingegneria Civile. Nel 1879 si avviò alla carriera universitaria, quale assistente alla Cattedra di Architettura di Angelo Reycend, e proseguì nell'insegnamento fino al 1901, quando preferì dedicarsi alla professione privata e alla collaborazione nell amministrazione cittadina. Fu infatti consigliere comunale, membro del Comitato Direttivo del Museo Civico, della Commissione per la denominazione delle vie e della Commissione conservativa dei Monumenti d'arte e di antichità per la Provincia di Torino. Dal 1902 intensificò ulteriormente il proprio impegno pubblico: fu nominato Assessore ai Servizi Speciali-Lavori Pubblici, diventò membro della Commissione di polizia urbana e rurale e del Comitato dell'Esposizione di Torino del 1911, Soprintendente nella Commissione Vigilanza dell'Istituto Letterario Margherita di Savoia, componente della Commissione esecutiva del Comitato Piemontese a favore dei danneggiati dal terremoto di Calabria e Sicilia. Nel contempo, Brayda non lasciò l'attività di progettista: a Torino, l'Ospizio di Carità, il Palazzo per l'Esposizione Generale del 1884 e casa Giaccone. Neppure tralasciò gli studi sull architettura piemontese medievale, con numerose pubblicazioni su monumenti di Torino e della Valle di Susa, dell eporediese, dell astigiano. Per il Borgo Medievale, Brayda collaborò alle ricerche e ricognizioni per il repertorio di modelli da riprodurre e fu coordinatore dei lavori di edificazione.
