Hardcover. Condizione: New. Condizione sovraccoperta: New. Reprint, 273 pages. Hardcover with a dust jacket. Nearly 100 variations are pictured, described, and commented upon in this extensive work. Well illustrated. There are detailed descriptions of the guns. Universally applauded as the Mauser pistol book, System Mauser is now well into its second printing. Mauser's Model 1896 was the first truly successful self-loading pistol, with a service record that extends from the Boer War through World War II. Arms collectors have long noted the many variations to be found among Model 1896 pistols, but until System Mauser no extensive effort had been made to organize these variations into a comprehensive evolutionary pattern. In the preparation of System Mauser the authors examined and tabulated data from literally thousands of Mauser pistols. However, the pistols themselves did not tell the whole story--factory photographs and manuals as well as a number of early books and periodicals in several languages were consulted extensively during the project. A number of Mauser experimental weapons, Model 1896 accessories, and competitive pistols from other manufacturers are also presented in System Mauser. With hundreds of illustrations and extensive tabulated data this book is certain to remain a basic reference in its field for many years to come.
