First edition. Nice copy of this beautifully illustrated work from Texas artist, Bubi Jessen (1908-1979). Laid in is a letter from the Texas Book Arts Guild at Southern Methodist University to Dick Bosse, Dallas bookman and owner/manager of the historic Aldredge Bookstore, explaining that there should have been a supplementary leaf from the printer, Carl Hertzog, handed out at a guild event the week prior. That leaf is enclosed, specially printed by Hertzog, and titled "Design Analysis of 'Humbert," which gives a lengthy discussion of design problems of the work and an example in the form of a page of the text on the verso. These two ephemeral items are housed in the original mailing envelope. Lowman 112B (book only) Sloan, The Library and Work of Carl Hertzog 187 (the explanatory leaf).
