Accordingly, the present volume includes papers on three separate but related areas: philology (both from a linguistic and cultural point of view), language typology and language structure (including comparative studies). The 25 contributions are thus held together by the links they have with various aspects of Winfried Boeder's work. Georgian, a language for which he has a particular affection, is the topic of a large number of papers, both from a synchronic and diachronic point of view.
