März 1938 ebenda) war ein russischer Politiker, marxistischer Wirtschaftstheoretiker und Philosoph. Er nahm an den russischen Revolutionen von 1905 sowie 1917 teil und wurde im Zuge der Stalinschen Säuberungen erschossen. Von 1912 und 1914 wollte Bucharin in Wien eine systematische Kritik der theoretischen Ökonomie der neuesten Bourgeoisie erarbeiten. Dazu studierte er die Literatur der Theoretiker der Österreichischen Schule der Nationalökonomie, hier vor allem Eugen Böhm von Bawerk, der gerade in Wien lehrte. Er besuchte einige Vorlesungen zum Thema der Grenznutzentheorie. Das Ergebnis dieser systematischen Kritik die Manuskripte zu seinem Buch Die politische Ökonomie des Rentners wurde von den österreichischen Ordnungshütern bei Ausbruch des Ersten Weltkrieges konfisziert. Bucharin musste fliehen. In Lausanne setzte er seine Arbeit fort und brachte schließlich doch sein Buch heraus. Die politische Ökonomie des Rentners galt als Handbuch des Marktmechanismus. Sein Anliegen: Die systematische Kritik der Grenznutzentheorie. Er schildert und kritisiert darin auch die sozial überflüssige Lebensweise der Rentnerbourgeoisie.
