He is well-known for his stained glass, his use of colour, and his subtle integration of Classical and Gothic styles. Anthony Symond…son, the leading authority on Comper, describes how and why Comper developed his distinctive approach, using early photographs to show Comper's work in its original form. He also charts Comper's friendship with Sir John Betjeman, who championed his work with mixed results. There is a complete gazetteer by Stephen Bucknall, who knew Comper through his family's professional connections, and a reprint of Comper's essay, Of the Atmosphere of a Church .
