Dieser Text enthalt anders als die ubrige mandaische Literatur, die grundsatzlich religioser Natur ist, Informationen, die sich trotz Mythologisierung fur die kaum bekannte fruhere Geschichte des Mandaismus verwerten lassen. Die von Bogdan Burtea vorgelegte Erstedition von Haran Gauaita basiert auf vier Handschriften, zwei aus der Bodleian Library Oxford sowie zwei bisher unbekannte aus der Privatbibliothek eines mandaischen Priesters. Der edierte Text wird aufgrund der Tatsache, dass die mandaische Schrift wenig bekannt ist, in Transliteration wiedergegeben. Um dem Leser auch den Originaltext zuganglich zu machen, werden die zwei unbekannten mandaischen Handschriften als Reproduktion im Anhang dargestellt. Die Ubersetzung gibt den Sinn des mandaischen Textes moglichst originalgetreu wieder. Der Kommentar leistet neben der Behandlung grammatikalischer Probleme einen Beitrag zur Beschreibung und Auslegung von historischen Angaben sowie von Orts- und Personennamen. So werden z.B. Termini wie Haran oder na?uraia (Na?oraer) ausfuhrlich besprochen. Eine Wortliste lexikalisch noch nicht erschlossener mandaischer Formen, eine Bibliographie sowie ein Register der Fachtermini runden diese Arbeit ab. It presents the results of a three-week long field research in two monasteries and focuses on three main aspects: the connections between the monastic setting and the outside world, nuns everyday routines, and religious experiences. The first part describes the impact of the external realm on monastic life and shows how nuns negotiate their interactions with profane space. The second and third parts deal with the ways in which nuns subjectivities are reshaped inside the monastery. The main argument is that nuns evolve between two sets of binaries: inside (monastic setting) outside (external world) and interior (spirit) exterior (body). These become essential in considering some broader problematics: women and postsocialism, daily practices in monastic life and the importance of bodily disciplines and voluntary will in reshaping one s subjectivity. 100 pp. Englisch.
