STC 684 VD 16 C694 this annymous work probably wrongly ascribed to Peter Canisius. They were actually compiled by the Dutch Jesuit Peter Busaeus. Canisius was a Dutch jesuit preist of the 16th century, and a notable figure in the counter-reformation. Sold primarily for well preserved stamped embossed designs on cover. This works contains multiple biblical references, and was part of a wider clarificiation of Catholic doctrine in response to the protestant reformation. This work is part four of four, Part 1: De fide, spe et charitate - Part 2: De sacramentis ecclesiae - Part 3: De priori iustitiae christianae parte, quae in fugiendis vitiis sita est, sive de peccatis. And the fourth part - de altera parte iustitiae christianae, quae in bonis consectandis est posita, sive de bonis operabus, virtutibus, donis etc. The other three parts are usually sold as one, part four appears to be comparably rare. 1 volume.
