Contemporary half leather with marbled boards. The title is stamped to the spine. The corners are bumped with some rubbing and there is a one inch long surface tear to the rear panel. Previous owner's name in ink to the front free endpaper - Isabella Wale of Shelford near Cambridge. There is some other writing and dates to the title page and the dedication page. One third of the final page - the index - has been torn away and the rear free endpaper is also missing. There is light browning to the pages which are otherwise generally unmarked.
