Hardcover. Condizione: Very good. Condizione sovraccoperta: Fair. Byron Schumaker (Art Director) (illustratore). First Printing [Stated]. 29 cm, 128 pages. Profusely illustrated (many in color). Picture Index. Text by William Safire and art direction by Byron Schumaker. Eye On Nixon is not meant to be a photographic history of the Nixon Administration; nor is it an effort to show everything President Richard Nixon has done or everywhere he has been. Julie Nixon Eisenhower presents a vivid picture of her father as a man-doing his job as President, but more than that, being the kind of man she knew him to be-kind, thoughtful, shy, direct, humorous. There definitely is a sense of buoyancy, a feeling of hope, an assurance that "tomorrow will be better" that runs deep in my father's personality. It is this sense of joy of living and confidence that I have tried to capture through photographs. What my father calls "the life of a driving dream" is good for a person, it is good for a family, and I like to think it is good for a country. William Lewis Safir (December 17, 1929 - September 27, 2009), better known as William Safire, was an American author, columnist, journalist, and presidential speechwriter. He was a public relations executive from 1955 to 1960. Previously, he had been a radio and television producer and an Army correspondent. He worked as a publicist for a homebuilder who exhibited a model home at an American trade fair at Sokolniki Park in Moscow in 1959-the one in which Richard Nixon and Nikita Khrushchev had their famous Kitchen Debate. A widely circulated black-and-white photograph of the event was taken by Safire.[6] Safire joined Nixon's campaign for the 1960 Presidential race, and again in 1968. After Nixon's 1968 victory, Safire served as a speechwriter for him and for Spiro Agnew; he is well known for having created Agnew's famous term, "nattering nabobs of negativism." Julie Nixon Eisenhower (born July 5, 1948) is an American author who is the younger daughter of Richard Nixon, 37th President of the United States, and Pat Nixon, First Lady of the United States, and is the wife of David Eisenhower, grandson of President Eisenhower. Julie and David settled in Berwyn, Pennsylvania, where she completed several books, including Pat Nixon: The Untold Story and Going Home to Glory; A Memoir of Life with Dwight D. Eisenhower, written with her husband David Eisenhower.
